Department Video Upload Instructions

Thank you for applying to Chapman University’s Conservatory of Motion pictures. As part of the Directing supplemental application you are required to upload a video.

Your video can be uploaded from QuickTime, .WMV, or flash formats. The following extensions will be accepted:

  • .rm
  • .mov
  • .flv
  • .mp4
  • .m4p
  • .wmv
  • .jpeg
  • .doc
  • .docx
  • .pdf

When exporting a video from a video program, please specify the size. By default most videos are exported as full size unless you tell the program to reduce the size. Also, to prevent distorting your video, be sure to "keep the aspect ratio."

You can use any program you like to create your video as long as it can be saved as a file type listed above.

If you are creating a picture slide show as opposed to actual live-action footage, it is best to use Windows Movie Maker (standard software on PCs) or iMovie (standard software of Apples) for your project as they are both user-friendly and can be saved in one of the above formats.

If you are unfamiliar with the standard free software for creating movies or slide shows on your computer, use these websites for assistance:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/moviemaker/default.mspx
http://www.apple.com/support/imovie/

You may submit only one project to this site. Make sure you are submitting the work that you would like to be reviewed as no additions/corrections can be made once you upload.

Uploaded videos become the property of Chapman University and will be used for the application review process only. All videos will be deleted after the admission process is complete.

If you are re-applying to the Conservatory of Motion pictures and have previously submitted a video, you may submit the same project as before. However, you will need to upload your video again as these items are not kept from previous admission cycles.
